At Applewood Dental in Wheat Ridge we know how frustrating it can be losing your teeth. Not only does the loss of teeth effect the esthetics of your smile but it can also have a negative effect on how you eat, chew and talk; in addition to effecting your jaw joints.
If we made you prosthetic legs, you would not start running the day after receiving them, and the same goes for dentures. It is a process that requires patience, effort, and realistic expectations prior to starting. Dr. Manzo & Dr. Cettie both have years of nursing home experience, and the majority of that being fabrication, fitting, and maintenance of dentures. With proper expectations, patients without teeth can adjust to new dentures and learn to eat their favorite foods again. If photos of your natural teeth are available, we will work with you to restore a natural looking smile.
How do I know if I should get a partial denture?
If you still have teeth remaining, a partial denture may be an option for you. Generally, there is a metal framework that sits on your teeth, and is connected to a pink acrylic (plastic) material that rests on your gums. This appliance improves aesthetics, chewing, and balance in the mouth. It is removed at night so your mouth can cleanse itself. This is a great option if there are teeth remaining with a questionable prognosis, because teeth can be added to the partial at a later date.
Every patient has different circumstances, goals, and needs. The denture process also varies from patient to patient. Please schedule your appointment at Applewood Dental in Wheat Ridge with Dr. Manzo or Dr. Cettie today so we can discuss your options.
